A threat hangs over access to care, according to nurses: what should we fear?
Among the problems identified is recruitment. There is now a real threat to access to care, warned Monday the National Federation of Nurses of Belgium (FNIB). It therefore calls on the federal, regional and Community authorities to reinvest in the qualification and retention of these qualified professionals. The health care system has been bleeding for the past decade, this professional association illustrates. “Victim of political indifference, it is emptying itself of the nursing professionals who work there,” worries its president Dan Lecocq, on the eve of the national demonstration in common union front of the non-profit sector in Brussels. According to him, “the haemorrhage is such that we are now reaching the limits of the viability of the sector”.
