A cargo bike user in Amsterdam who was stopped by police for jumping a red light was using his two wheeler to transport a large number of ready made joints across the city.

The 46-year-old man was riding his electric cargo bike at speed and attracted the attention of the police when he jumped a red light. They inspected the bike and found the man was transporting a quantity of marijuana and a large number of joints, according to the police statement.

Police then watched his house and spotted another man leaving the premises carrying two bags which contained more than the legal amount of cannabis allowed (under 5 grams).

A subsequent search of the house turned up more soft drugs and a large amount of money. They also found a bag containing €400,000, which had been thrown onto a neighbour’s balcony.

The men, who were arrested on May 20, have since been released from custody but remain suspects in the case.
