Belgium has been experiencing its first heat wave in recent days,
the IRM announced after the mercury reached 30.1 ° C in Uccle.
A heat wave is characterized by at least five consecutive days with maxima equal to or greater than 25 ° C including at least three days with maxima reaching or exceeding 30 ° C. According to meteorologist David Dehenauw, the current heatwave began on June 8 and is the first time since 2006 that Belgium has experienced such an early heat wave. It took place from 9 to 13 June. Early heat wave records date back to 1998 (May 9-14), 1922 (May 21-25) and 1947 (May 29-June 4).
Our country will remain under the influence of warm continental currents in the coming days.
