Eurovision song contest contender Joost Klein was back on stage a week after his disqualification for allegedly making a threatening gesture towards a member of the festival’s camera crew.
“My name is Klein (short) but I’m standing tall,” Klein told an enthusiastic audience at the Freshtival in Enschede, referring to the incident in Malmö which almost certainly cost him a place among the top scoring acts.
Klein may have to travel back to Sweden to face a judge in the case. The DJ and singer denies the charge.
“It was fun seeing him again after all that has happened,” one visitor told broadcaster NOS, while another described him as a “legend”.
Klein will be performing at festivals in Belgium and the Netherlands in the coming few weeks, including Concert at Sea, Rock Zottegem, and the Zwarte Cross festival. In August he will be appearing at Sziget in Budapest, one of the biggest festivals in Europe.
