A new devastating wildfire is affecting the Los Angeles region, approximately 56 km north of the city, near Castaic Lake, close to Santa Clarita. The fire, known as the Hughes Fire, is being fueled by the strong, dry Santa Ana winds, which are accelerating the spread of the flames and complicating containment efforts. So far, the blaze has burned over 2,000 hectares, prompting local authorities to order the evacuation of at least 31,000 residents.
“We have seen the devastation caused by people who did not follow these orders during the Palisades and Eaton fires. I don’t want to see the same thing happen here in our community. If you have received an evacuation order, please leave,” said Robert Jensen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He urged everyone in the area affected by this new wildfire to leave immediately.
