A bilateral pneumonia, affecting organs already compromised by various chronic complications, some longstanding, in addition to being in an 88-year-old patient: this is the general clinical picture of Pope Francis, who has been hospitalized since February 14 at the “A. Gemelli” Polyclinic in Rome.
As explained by the doctors treating him during the press briefing on February 21, the course of the Pope’s illness can only be described as delicate. Professor Sergio Alfieri was clear: “The Pope is not out of danger.”
